U inicijalnoj fazi požara materijali i konstrukcije različito doprinose razvoju požara. Na osnovu rezultata ispitivanja vrši se požarna klasifikacija građevinskih proizvoda u skladu sa standardom SRPS EN 13501- 1. Laboratorija je u mogućnosti da sprovede sva potrebna ispitivanja da bi se izvršila požarna klasifikacija u skladu sa pomenutim standardom. Ispitivanja koja se sprovode u svrhu požarne klasifikacije su:
Prve dve ispitne metode se koriste za ispitivanje materijala koji nemaju značajan doprinos pri razvoju požara (klase A1 i A2).
SBI test je neophodan za utvrđivanje klasa od A2 do D za sve proizvode neobuhvatajući podove.
Podovi se ispituju posebnom metodom - FLOORING TEST. Klase prema reakciji na požar koje se mogu ostvariti na osnovu rezultata ovog ispitivanja su A2FL do DFL.
Klase koje se mogu ostvariti primenom testa sa “malim” plamenom su klase od B do E.
