Reaction to fire

Non-combustibility test

In laboratory for Thermal technique and fire protection of the IMS institute, examination of incombustibility of materials is conducted according to standard SRPS EN ISO 1182 and SRPS U.J1.040. Testing is performed in order to determine flammability with the goal of classification of building materials in accordance to standard SRPS EN 13501-1 (LINK KA REAKCIJI NA POŽAR).

Incombustibility of materials is property of material to not contribute further development of fire. This test is performed for all materials that are to be classified as non-combustible – group A1 or A2. If material is to be classified as A1 in accordance to standard SRPS EN 13501-1 gross heat of combustion needs to be determined for the given material in accordance to standard SRPS EN ISO 1716.

Test is conducted on specimens of cylindrical shape with radius of 45mm and 50 mm of height. If specimen’s thickness is bellow 50 mm, a specimen with 50 mm of thickness needs to be formed by stacking of material. Specimen thicker than 50 mm needs to be cut to thickness of 50 mm. Specimens are tested in hot furnace in which temperature reaches .

If a product is to be classified as A1 or A2, required criteria needs to be fulfilled and additional tests needs to be performed, according to classification standard SRPS EN 13501-1.

Specimen preparation: Five specimens in cylindrical shape with radius of 45 mm and height of 50 mm need to be prepared.
